Live jazz for your wedding

Ceremony to last dance, played for the room you’re in.

From the aisle to the last toast

Standard Alchemy plays live cocktail jazz for weddings across Western Colorado. We’re based in Montrose, so ranch weddings, mountain venues, wineries and backyard receptions from Delta to Telluride are all close to home for us.

Ceremony

Trumpet and guitar is a warm, uncluttered sound for a ceremony, indoors or out. We’ll play your guests in, mark the processional, and send you back down the aisle on something joyful.

Cocktail hour

This is where cocktail jazz earns its name: swing, bossa nova and Great American Songbook standards at a level where people can still talk. It fills the gap while photos are happening and sets the tone for the evening.

Dinner and reception

Through dinner we keep it relaxed. When it’s time to lift the energy, the band can grow to a trio or quartet and turn up the swing.

Pick the size that fits

  • Jazz duo — trumpet and guitar. Small footprint, easy on the room, ideal for ceremonies, dinners and wine bars.
  • Jazz trio — add bass for a fuller sound at a reception or a larger party.
  • Jazz quartet — trumpet, guitar, bass and drums when you want the room to swing.
  • Vocals — instrumental, or with male and/or female vocals, including guest vocalist Polly Kroger.

Duo from $350 · trio and quartet quoted per event.

Who you’re hiring

The band is led by trumpeter Zan Waller, who spent more than twenty years as a lead trumpet player in U.S. Army and Navy bands and showbands, and guitarist Stefan Davenport, a magna cum laude graduate of Berklee College of Music. Weddings are what this kind of musician is built for: reading a room, keeping time with a schedule, and making transitions feel easy.

Stefan also runs Chef Stefan Inc, catering gatherings of 30 or more, so you can book the music and the meal with one call.

Hear us before you book

We play every Sunday, 4–7 PM, at Chloe’s Charcuterie & Wine in Ridgway. No cover. Come have a glass of wine and see if we’re the sound you want.

Questions

Good to know.

Do you play outdoor wedding ceremonies?

Yes. Trumpet and guitar works well outdoors, and we play ranch, mountain and backyard weddings across the Western Slope. Let us know about power and shade at the site when you inquire.

Which towns do you travel to for weddings?

We are based in Montrose and regularly cover Delta, Olathe, Ridgway, Ouray, Telluride, Cedaredge, Grand Junction and Palisade. Further travel is available by arrangement.

Can you add a singer?

Yes. We perform instrumentally or with male and/or female vocals, including guest vocalist Polly Kroger.

How far ahead should we book?

Summer and fall Saturdays go first, so reach out as soon as you have a date and venue. Weekday and off-season dates are often available on shorter notice.

How do we get a quote?

Email standardalchemyjazz@gmail.com or call (719) 396-0349 with your date, venue, guest count and which parts of the day you want music for. Duos start at $350; trios and quartets are quoted per event.

Tell us your date.

Send the date, the venue and roughly what you have in mind. Zan answers booking inquiries personally.
